Missions

Our church currently supports twelve missionary families serving in various places around the world, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every October, our church holds a weekend missions conference to hear from different missionaries. Also, we seek to send a team on a short term missions trip to another culture at least every other year.

Missionaries we support:

India

The Wichita India Project (WIP) is a strategic plan involving a number of area churches to saturate the Periyar region of southern India with the Gospel.  In conjunction with the India Gospel League, this plan supports Dr. Samuel Stephens and involves evangelism, church planting , church building, and pastoral training so that the 2.5 billion inhabitants of this region can know Christ.  Your Faith Promise gifts have been a part of this project since 1997. www.iglworld.org

Israel

Shlomy and Miriam Abramov minister in Tel Aviv, Israel with Jews for Jesus.  They pass out tracts and lead Bible studies to help Jews come to trust Jesus as their Messiah.  They also minister in other parts of the world in reaching out to Jews with the Gospel.  We have been supporting the Abramovs since 2004.  sma11@zahav.net.il

Japan

Mark and Athlee Bowman are in Sapporo, Japan.  Through building relationships with people coming to Caf'e Co-En, a coffee shop/English learning evangelism ministry, they have seen much growth in Christian fellowship/church and the number of students seeking English practice, using the Bible as their text.  The Bowmans have been supported as EFCE missionaries since 1989.  mbowmanjapan@gmail.com

Kenya

Tom and Karen Richarson returned to Nqurinit, Kenya in June this year.  This starts their 2nd, 4 year tour of duty.  They live in a very primitive area and reach out to the local people through church, home Bible study, one-on-one outreach, and just living and working everyday with the Kenyans.  Our church has been supporting them since 2002 through The Masters Mission.   www.tmmrichardson.com

Macedonia

Brian and Elizabeth Richards and family of 4 have been working in Macedonia with your help since 1997.  They are teaching English and leading Bible studies, spreading the Gospel in Skopje, Macedonia.  They continue to work in church planting and building relationships through Bible studies and various outreach events.  The Richards have become much more involved and visible in the last years with several large public events.  Check out the picture book they sent!   SEND International is the sending organization.  Email: richardsfam@gmail.com  Webpage: www.richardsfam.info

Mexico

Barry and Karla Hannant have been serving in the Mexico City area for 4 years.  They are now on home assignment.  I am sure we will hear from them personally soon.  They have been very busy with a college outreach, a girls school, and sending and receiving short term missionary trips.  We look forward to their visit.  We have been blessed to support them since going full time in Mexico in 2005.   Barry.hannant@efca.org  , karla.hannant@efca.org

Myanmar (formerly Burma)

James BiakLian and wife Sui have been working in Myanmar since 1992.  They are working in a very hostile political world.  They continue to teach and train pastors in their native language, a well as pastor a church and lead a fellowship of 28 other churches across the country.  They have rebuilt after a fire and helped after floods, and yet still continue to teach and train workers for our Lord.  Due to government filtering we do not have direct contact.  Ask Pastor Scott and Connie about their first hand experience in Myanmar in 2006.

Russia

Peter Mitskevich and his family of 5 serve in Moscow.  A native of Russia, Peter is now the president (Rector) of Moscow Theological Institute with 300-400 students.  Besides training in the theological school, Peter is Vice President of the Russian Baptist Association and is translating Chuck Swindoll's "Insight for Living" daily radio broadcast into Russian.  These broadcasts will be beamed all across the former Soviet Union.  Peter has also been serving as the senior pastor at Golgatha Baptist Church in Moscow since 1997.  Your Faith Promise Missions gifts have been working through Peter's ministry since 1992.  www.russianleadership.org

Bill and Cherry Ritchey are teaching and writing curriculum for the World Missions Academy in Maracy, Venezuela.  Bill is involved in training pastors who then go back to their home areas and also to other countries.  Your Faith Promise Missions gifts have been at work in Bill and Cherry's ministry since they went to Venezuela in 1984.

World Missions Alliance, Chuck and Helen Todd

This dynamic couple has spoken twice now in our missions conference.  They travel, speak, evangelize and smuggle Bibles into some of the most hostile places on earth such as Iraq, Jordan, China and Russia.  Our church started regular support to them in 2008.  You can visit their wesite at www.rfwma.org/contact.htm
